Group baby and toddler singing wins!

In my (now rather long) experience of creating ways to make baby and toddler songs and rhymes accessible, I always come back to the group. It's the number one, most effective vehicle for sharing songs and rhymes.

A group - whether it's in a library, in someone's front room, in a little village hall, independent or franchised - has the active engagement that we publishers dream of: - captive audience - time - person to person sharing of the rhymes and songs - an uninterrupted hour in the day for fun with your baby or toddler and your peers. Friendships are made, problems are shared, laughter galore, and, very importantly, those songs and rhymes, learned within the group, have the best chance of going home with those babies and toddlers and their grown ups. So here's to all those wonderful people who deliver sessions of play with songs and rhymes.

Hopefully our books, and audio, and podcast, Playsongs Playtime, have helped along the way, But the group is where we began - over 40 years ago - in a little local community centre. We naively thought we could make ourselves redundant by putting all the songs and rhymes into a book. Ha!! Glad that didn't work! The group still remains the most brilliant way to share songs and rhymes. Long may they continue. (We'll do our best to keep up.)
