Become You

My eldest grand daughter has just finished her last day at primary school. One of those hugely emotional moments for parents and grandparents alike. It's only yesterday that I was holding her and singing to her as a baby. Steve Grocott wrote Become You about that process of growth and change and created this most beautiful song, which we included in our collection, Grand Sleepover. Here it is for you. Tissues at the ready. It gets to me every time, just as Malvina Reynolds' song 'Turn Around' did, so many years ago, when I tried to sing it as a lullaby to my own first baby ~ no way could I manage to sing the words: 'Turn around and you're two, Turn around and you're four, Turn around and you're a young girl going out of my door.' But all you have to do, is Become You.
